GRANADA T.V.
-----------------
HOW CAN I CONTROL MY CHILD?
GRANADA APPEAL FOR FAMILIES TO TAKE PART IN
REMARKABLE PROJECT.
A disruptive child can destroy a family. And research has shown that half of all very badly behaved children will go on to develop extreme anti-social behaviour in adolescence. A new ITV1 series is offering six children and their parents a chance to try to put bad behavior behind them and provide advice and ideas for all mums and dads to use with their own sons and daughters.
Twelve weeks to turn a life around
Dr Stephen Scott is one of Britains leading experts on anti-social child behaviour and has been running courses for parents who are struggling to cope with their difficult children for the past 15 years.
Dr Scott believes he can break the cycle of bad behaviour in just 12 weeks of re-training not just the children but also their parents.
Granada will film six families taking part in this remarkable child management course for a fascinating new documentary series.
The series will chart the progress of each family, following the highs and lows as they put the methods of the course into practise.
Some disruptive children will have trouble learning not because theyre unintelligent, but because they cant pay attention. Others will find it hard to make friends not because theyre dislikeable, but because they disrupt games. And it can be a snowball effect the more they get told off, the lower their low self-esteem and the worse they behave. For parents, it can feel like a very vicious circle.
Dr Scott aims to reverse the behaviour patterns of disruptive children and help parents manage their children more successfully by bringing out the positive side that he says is in all of them. Dr Scott offers parents new ways to relate to their children, and gets right down to the intimate details of how to improve moment to moment exchanges with children, including effective alternatives to smacking.
If you are struggling to cope with a disruptive or very naughty child and would like to take part in Dr Scotts course, Granada would like to hear from you. Children should be between the ages of 3 and 8 years old.
